Well for someone who has Vortechs on a 40...me...I'd personally go with 2 MP10W ES pumps. As stated before, Vortech's work better in multiple numbers. I have 2 MP10's on my 40 Breeder, mixed reef, with plenty of SPS. The problem with one 10, or one 40 is the lack of "random" flow. Point 2 MP10's at each other on the same setting, or different settings to maximize the randomness. Plus, 2 MP10W ES's are just a little bit more than 1 MP40W ES!

Edit: Make sure your walls of your DT are no more than 10mm thick (3/8"). MP10's have issues holding onto glass/acrylic that is thicker.

IMO any time you buy a Vortech, you should go one size up from what you need. Depending on the ambient noise of where you run them, they can be too loud for you or other people which would cause you to run them lower. An MP40 at half throttle is near silent and puts out more than an MP10 at full throttle which is pretty loud when changing speeds.
