So I was thinking about buying a vortech to replace the 2 koralias i have in my tank. I hate looking into my tank and seeing those bulky things.

I have a 55 gallon tank and was wondering which would be the best to buy: the vortech 20 or the 40. I figured the 20 I would have to run on max power, but would the 40 be too much for my tank?

right now it seems like the 20's are selling for about $225?
if I can get a new 40w 2nd gen for $350, is that about the right price for this powerhead?

Go with the MP40, that's what I have on my 55. You can always dial it down, but you can't always dial it up. Mine was $405, and that was about 9 months ago, I don't know what they are going for now.

+1 Get the 40. You will need it with the 4ft tank.
