I get the vortech on christmas and i have been wondering what mode would be best to ease my fish and coral into getting used to more flow?

I heard there are a lot of modes on the vortech, and it sounds like reef crest is a popular mode. I don't want my fish crashing into rocks from not being used to the added flow, so would you suggest that i put it on a lower setting for a bit then gradually work up to reef crest, or should they be ok if i just set it to reef crest when i first set it up

I have heard a lot of fish will actually swim into the current on purpose after they have been provided with an area of increased flow.

I have heard this quite often actually.

Puffer, I do not have any personal experience but it does sound like the reef crest mode is the one I hear mentioned more often. Maybe try that and if it's too much for your fish to handle(hiding a lot or seem stressed) dial it down until they are comfortable.

ok thanks guys, i just wanted to make sure as it's going to be a massive difference in flow.
i know my male clown LOVES to swim in front of the mj1200, he does this all day, he's going to love the vortech then.

There is a dial knob of the MP. This is used to adjust different things for different modes. Within the Reef Crest mode the knob controls the maximum speed in this mode. You can keep it at a lower speed and bring it up day to day to ease you fish and corals in to it.

I do not really see a need however. I just threw mine and and cranked it.
