I'm using reef crest right now with one, but that's because I only have one for the moment. It doesn't a great job getting all the water to move in the tank. When I get the second one at the end of the month, I'll really experiment. It's an mp40 in an 80g

Well I will have two at the end of this month. Building this 80g has to be a drawn out process or our savings would go to poop real fast!

hahahah i wish i could have two vortechs but even one mp20 is quite powerful in my 46 so i think two would be major overkill for my steup, thein id be forced to keep a SPS only tank, where right now i can get away with a mixed reef

You could dial them all the way down though, right?

I have mine on reef crest because I like the more frequent variation in speeds and I keep a lot of acros which I think like that.

An interesting thing to note though is that someone did a test on how much flow an MP10 was putting out in each mode and it turned out that in lagoon mode the pump actually put out more flow overall for the same time period in lagoon mode. Not that it changes my mind which mode to use, I just thought it was interesting since lagoon mode is supposedly the calmer one. :)

I have 2 MP40's on my 150gal. I run one on reef crest on the other on lagoon mode.
