    Great post AZRat.
    I plan on cleaning a very crusty floatswitch soon...
    anyone know if vinegar is really bad for rubber?

    I haven't noticed any issues yet from my use. I use vinegar at full strength also.

    I use full strength as well without any issues on rubber, plastic and metal. Just rinse well.

    Don't leave rubber suction cups or O rings in for more than a few hours as the vinegar does harden them with extended use. I learned this when soaking the nozzles for my mister system with the O rings still attached. I confirmed it with a couple of old MJ suctions cups also.

    Good to know - thanks - I'll see if I can remove the rubber piece beforehand.

    Just now cleaned my Koralias and wow! Never thought I'd see them black again lol they were a very pretty purple/pink though :) vinegar works great!

    clr is a good product also and doesnt cost much and is faster than vinegar. I use it for my skimmers and pumps

    I would NOT use CLR! It is not safe and matter of fact it burns your skin.
