it looked bleached when i first put it in im thinking due to the transport and being in the bag longer than i would like. its got so much of its color back but it seems like some of the tips are still bleached. i haven't target fed it yet. it did catch some brine shrimp when i fed the fish that night. it inflates and deflates from what i can see regularly.

i think it improved 80% but would like to see more. its planted itself in the center of my tank as you can see but should i rearrange my tank so it has more room? i don't really like the fact that its touching the glass and the rock a little bit. but i don't want to move it because i know thats bad. any advice is great. and yes i know i have a gha issue im still fighting lol

hard to say, what type of nem is it, a BTA? I have 3 BTA's and I feed raw shrimp maybe every few weeks. Nems don't really need to be target fed, they need good lighting though. What type of lighting do you have on your tank?

I'm in CT also, where are you? I'm in the Fairfield area and get all my livestock from Westport Aquarium or local reefers.

im in danielson ct right on the RI border. i have a 4 bulb t5 setup with 2 10,000k and 2 actnics. i was told its a green lta. the lfs said he couldn't give me a specific name for it. i got it from puppy palace and aquarium in west hartford. i go there and fin and feather in groton. its nice to see another reefer in CT. i have raw shrimp in a plastic bag in my freezer is that safe to thaw and feed? its just supermarket shrimp nothing i got at a lfs. i wouldn't mind feeding it live feeders but ive read a lot of horror stories about nems getting bacterial infections and whatnot from live food so that worries me. i know its hard to keep them as it is so i want to give it every opportunity to survive

Thanks for the info, I've heard of those LFS but I'm much closer to the coast.

Your light may barely work if the nem is higher up, from my exp with my BTA's, they footed high up near my light. I have an Aquactinics TX5 that has 5x54w bulbs and really nice reflectors. I'm using all ATI bulbs too which def helps. The reflectors of your fixture and bulb choice make a big impact on how much light output is getting into the tank. IMHO if the nem is unhappy with the level of light it may wander endlessly. You might also want to take precautions to screen off any powerheads or intakes as they will get stuck and die in them when they wander. Nems die slowly from the inside so I would keep an eye on it as it can crash a system if it does wither away.

Not to make you worry but just giving my honest advice, that's why many advise on only getting nems for established (6 months+) with adequate lighting to keep them happy.

    CT in the house!

From the pic you can see all my nems up in the top-left of my tank:

beautiful tank. thats why i asked. i prefer honestly over false hope lol. i was under the impression that the sand bed is good to put them in because the ltas don't particularly like rocks. it hasn't tried to move since it footed itself where its at. i do have the stock bulbs in my lighting unit because its a month old and i didn't want to throw them out when they are still new. i plan on switching them after christmas to ati's or something of the same par. there's no chance at burning the nem to close to the light?

Thanks, yeah I'm going to be selling that tank set-up soon, I'll miss it! I don't know a whole lot about LTA's you may be right about them liking the sandbed, not sure, maybe others will chime in hopefully.

i hope so lol i have only had it a couple days and it looks great to me but everyone i have seen say anything says it can take months to show signs of stress and whatnot. i definitely don't want that nuke going off in my tank if i can avoid it. i don't want to eat the 60$ i paid for it either lol

You are correct. LTAs prefer to anchor in a sandbed. It looks huge in the vid. How big is it?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I think your anemone needs more flow, it looks like you turned off the pumps to take the video ? If not, some mod to indirect flow would probably help.

Coloration is really hard to tell from the picture but it looks similar to a to both a BTA and a LTA. Anemones can take along time to bleach and they take along time to adjust coloration as well.

It is fine that it is touching the rockwork and the glass. BTA's usually take up residence in the rockwork.
