    Orange and purple.... obviously. :p

I think you're missing the snarky remark a few have made here; a coral "name" is pretty worthless. People make them up all the time. Think of the name as really more of a marketing tactic.

An acan lord is an acan lord. But it's what colors it has and how "crazy" it is might drive the price to whatever someone is willing to pay.

I understand that, and it's not about price to me... it's about knowing if I have a known color variant. I think I've been pretty clear that I really like the color its developing, and don't have intentions of trying to sell it. But I know with zoas for instance, there are some common names associated with color variants. This was my curiosity.

Even if 3 different vendors had frags of this colony, it might be called 4 different names.

That's not the point lol. I know that the names vary and that some color variants may have multiple names. I would settle for any "common" name for the color variant I have. I don't want to make up another random name for it or just have it be "acan". It's somewhat similar to saying I have a "dog". Yellow lab is much more specific.

Cheryl already provided you with a resource to try and find a name. You could also try some other online coral vendors and check out their stock to see if you see anything close. But as mentioned, all you are going to get is what one vendor calls it. Even the different names for Zoas are pretty silly, IMO, as they are just what one person decided to call them. Hopefully I don't come off as harsh or anything, as that is not the intent.

No, I don't feel you, nor do I appreciate the mockery in this thread. I asked a rather simple question, that... while it may seem unimportant to many of you, is not unimportant to myself. If you feel you are unable or unwilling to help... then stay out of the thread.

I'm going to be very matter-of-fact here, I do not intend to be offensive.
    You're clearly missing the point.

There are no common names for acan morphs beyond whatever someone smears on them. It's an acan lord that's purple/orange/whatever. That's it. It's an acan lord. It's not an acan echinata, it's not an acan bowerbanki, it's not even an acan rotundoflora; it's an acan lord. That IS the species.

    Genus: Acanthastrea
    Species: lordhowensis
