vacation time

I vacation for 2-3 weeks per clip every year. But I have an ato – no one comes in to check or feed my tank, I rarely feed it anyway….I let them live off the reef. I have a pump in my sump on a timer that runs for 15 minutes at night, this stirs up the detritus and feeds the filter feeders. My refugium supplies plenty of pod’s to keep things happy.

Now in your case, I would suggest you ask a friend to add water to your sump mark at least once in the middle of the week,

Alternatively, set up a reserve tank and place it next to your sump – set the water at the same level as the sump level (when running of course). Start a siphon with an air hose and secure it in the reserve tank and the sump, have the hose go near the bottom. As the tank evaps and the sump drops it will automatically draw water from the reserve via siphon as water will level itself. This should help reduce your evap time – but a trust worthy friend would be best.
