I have a 120g DT with a 40G Sump, I am looking into getting a UV steralizer for my tank because of an Ich problem I am having with my blue hippo and powder blue. They are eating healthy I just want to kick the ich. Does anyone know of any good brands I am decently low on cash and am looking to spend no more than $200 so suggestions on products are welcome.

I think it helps to prevent ich, not kill it.

well, A thing about ich is that when it is on the fish it is what is at the end stage of ich the eggs on the skin. When they fall off they go into the sand and rocks they hatch after a few days and burst into the water column again making more ich. I think that a uv sterilizer will kill the ones that burst into the column

Its your money. You would be better of setting up a QT w/ the money than a UV.

I would recommend aqua ultraviolet UVs.

BTW, UVs don't kill anything completely. The radiation mutates the DNA and RNA of living organisms that pass by the light.

I am using a Coralife Turbo Twist 18w. on my 150g. There are a thousand opinions on U.V.'s in this hobby. Some say it kills all the good stuff along with the bad stuff. Some say it kills ich, some say it does not. All I can say from my experience, is that I bought it when I was having a Hair Algae problem. Since that went away, I have not seen a bit of Algae, nor have I seen a spot of Ich. Thats just me. It is not an overnight cure, but once you have it under control, I believe it HELPS prevent further outbreaks. As far as it killing all the good stuff...I dont believe it kills enough to make a difference. My tank thrives, and I have run it for about a year now 24/7. They go for around 150.00. I hope this helps you make a decision.
