Has anybody tried this? I hear they have very potent stings and can kill aiptasia.

Trouble is this one aiptasia that keeps getting larger in my reef, it is on the biggest rock in my tank n the back underside where it is impossible for me to get to without moving the rock and disturbing the whole sandbed. I do not want to add any predators (already thought about that route before) since I have so many frogspawn and hammers that might become food for a butterfly or peppermint, and I can not use my aiptasia x because I can not get to the mouth of the coral.

I was thinking about putting an elegance coral on the sandbed right next to the spot since it would be a lower light and one of the lowest spots of flow in the aquarium where I sometimes have some detritus settling. I know they have a very poor track record since the 90s but the lfs has had 2 of them in for 2 or more months now with no signs of deterioration.

^^^ lol this. I made a feeder using hard airline tubing and a syringe. Make one, use it for a long kalk paste applicator as well. Kalk is the best thing ever. I kills aptaisia in one shot, and its almost as good on majano nems.

turn off all your pumps so you can come in from aboveand let it sit for 10-15 minutes. Slather that bay up then siphon it out. Kalk paste is like napalm, get it in the area and let it do its thing. Kalk may not be elegant, but it does its job.

Nice. Plan B, pull out your heat gun and make a curved applicator! I have been wanting to do this as well.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I would not risk my Elegance coral, now a Hydnophora no problem. I used my Hydnophora to kill of aiptasia once, but I got tried of moving it around.

I would go with the Kalk method even though it may be clumsy, and you can always try again.

+1, until i saw this post, i was thinking am i the only one that's used hydnophora? just get a small frag and put it on the aiptasia, it's extremely cool to watch too. But i would still use kalk paste or other liquid method.
