So I have a 55gal tank that I am converting to a salt water tank. I needs to be cleaned, scrubs and removed of all evidence that this was ever used as a fresh water tank..

My Emperor 400 filter will get new filter pads and media, and a new pair of biowheels.

What can i do to the tank, other than a standard scrubbing pad w/RO water (no chemicals), to ensure I remove the previous use of the tank.

Also, what can I do once salt has begun developing in areas to get it cleaned.

    Thanks to all....

so you dont want to use any chemicals,i have used vinegar and bleach/water solution several times with no ill effects before.

bleach evaporates in air so a good drying and for internal pieces some water dechlorinator wont hurt for security.
vinegar just needs a good rinse to remove. vinegar was used to clean glass before windex

stores do sell salt creep eliminator spray whether it works or not i couldnt say

I switched mine from fresh top salt without cleaning it. I never thought it would make a difference. ANd the salt creep I just wipe it off Just not back in the tank.

If any doubt, fill the 55 gallon with water and 2 or 3 gallons of bleach to the top of the rim, throw in a powerhead for circulation, and let it sit a day. Make sure bleach gets under the plastic trim to clean every surface. Then drain and rinse once or twice. Good to go.
