Following. This issue confuses the bejesus out of me, since VA can't be converted to watt/hours AFAIK.

My 1400VA powers my return pump rated at 30watts and my heater rated at 200 watts (I plug and unplug this so it doesn't waste the battery) gets me about 36 hours of run time. I just know this from letting it run till the battery died. The newer version of mine.

APC UPS are great and I always recommend them. Mine is currently attached to my comp, but come winter it will be back on my tank.

FYI: the UPS you linked is 450watts.
Scroll down for mins vs load graph.

Well, VA is fairly simple to convert to watts, once you know the power factor of the backup unit. I think they're usually between .9 and .98.

It's converting the raw watts number to watt/hour that I'm not sure of.

It is always best to use the manufacturer's site.

Good call, xmetal. Too bad it stops at 45w load though.

Black: the graph increases. an estimate is better than a complete guess and hoping ones math is correct.

Dingo: the link is not my exact one. Mine has two batteries instead of one like the one i linked to.

He has a 1400VA power supply, you're looking at a 750 VA power supply. That implies a difference of almost double the run time. The efficiency also matters, so the higher VA unit might have a better efficiency at low wattages.
