I currently have a 15 gal 15" cube nano without sump, thats 2yrs old. i want to upgrade it to 24x15x15" maintank and 24x12x10" sump (which i wana shift within a day as there is no way i have time to wait coz of space) the total tank volume will increase from 12gal to 30gal. i dont wana add any new lr or ls, just some cheato in the sump. the current live stock is few softies and 1 chromis. my only concern is the amount of sand in my current setup might me less for new setup. but i have 10kg of coral sand extra in stock. so can i slowly add a handful every week or i just should not bother adding new sand. also i have some bryopsis and toadstool algae growing all over. so i want to shift 2 big bunches of toadstool algae to my sump so would also like to know that for how long should i keep the lights off in the main tank for the algae to die and my corals dont get affected much, keeping the lights in my sump open for cheato and toadstool. i also have GFO and carbon.

You should be able to keep the lights for a few days(3-5) or even more. It really should effect them that much.

Add the new sand with the old. The old will seed the new. Same for the rock. Go ahead and add your fish!

To rid your tank of Bryopsis algae, slowly raise your Magnesium level to 1600 using Kent Tech Mag. Make sure to test. You should begin to see die off within a week if not sooner. Going lights out will not kill Bryopsis.
