    Just a follow up

Anyone have hints or suggestions on how long or what not to do when moving to a bigger tank. I really don't want to lose any corals or fish :)

All depends on where you wanna set you new tank up at. If it is in the same place as your old tank well gotta break that down and move it. Plus set up of 180gal. THen start putting that together sand rock.. ect. Plumbing or how ever it is easier for you to do it.. But storage of rock corals and water if saving water I would recomend will all be in rubbermaid bins or new trash cans.. It will be a all day event pending there are no plumbing issues.

I guess all in all dont break down your old tank till your 180gal is 100% ready for the big switch. AND TAKE YOUR TIME.. With in reason of course. So no oh POOP moments accure...

I hope this kinds helps you out..

    Best of luck..

    Thanks :)

The new tank will be in a new space - I have all the time in the world to move things over :)

Would it be best to stock the 180 over a 3 month period?

Im upgrading from my 75gal as well to a 207gal one thing that i almost forgot is a heater that is large enough for your display tank. Also i would go with a mag18 for a return pump if you havent already decided to go with a larger.

I think stocking over a 3month period would be the best i wish i had that much time, mine is going in the same location as my old tank.

Like you said new tank new place.. I would get it up and running and let it cycle. And if time is on your hands then take your time.. This way also you can tackle any issues that may accure with minimal if not no livestock loss..

    baton rouge...LSU!!!
i have a mag 24 on my 150, metal halides..

costs 23$ a month to run my tank... at .0715 cents a killawatt an hour in baton rouge..

no chiller, tank has never gotten above 80.4 degrees

all tanks i have upgraded were moved in one day, just make sure you have enough salt water mixed, and try and save as much old water as you can before it gets too cloudy and dirty...

and get alot of rubbermaids to keep stuff on the transfer

and use new sand.. and you should be just fine transfering everything...
