OK...now I have been reading old and new posts,...and now that my Mom-in-Law is moved in here with us, I can get to work on my tank.....

I have a Red Sea Berlin Venturi skimmer...old style....

They now make an upgrade pump for it that runs about 50 -60 dollars that converts it into a 'Turbo".
Can anyone give me feed back on this...does anyone have a Berlin Turbo...are you happy with it?

OR...should I use that $ towards a completely new skimmer...I was looking at the euroreef perhaps? Other suggestions?

    Is it worth the upgrade....

There are 3 or 4 skimmers running around in the forums here, you might want to do a skimmer search if you haven't already. I think the most popular one recently is the Aqua-C Remora. Captive Reefs is one of 3Reefs sponsors so we get a 6% discount...the Remora is an on back design. Aqua-C also has an in sump style, the Urchin. They are the same price. If your tank is 60gal, or so, you would be happy with either one.

These skimmers are getting great reviews. [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

I don't know anything about upgrading the one you have. It would save some $, and you seem to be familiar with it, so if it works for you, that might be the way to go. ;)

New is always better in my book. You can't go wrong with the Euro Reef, Aqua~medic Turbofloter 1000, or the Aqua-C. Darin at CaptiveReefs has great pricing on the Aqua-C as mentioned above.

Yes, thanks for the replies....I have done the research...I was trying to fish out some of the people here who may have the Berlin ...I think Fletch and/or Phil...and anyone else who has the berlin...what is their experience.
I spent about $200 at the time on this one...so....I am not sure about spending another 200-250 if I don't really have to. But like I said, I don't want to spend the $50 and toss that out too... ;D

BTW, how many gallons is a tank that is 24" long, x 12" deep, and 16" high? I am using it for a sump and my math stinks...
    I think it is 15 gal...need a confirmation....THANKS

HI Birdlady Yup I have a Berlin Turbo Skimmer, I haven't had any problems with it yet!! ::) Once you get it tuned in ( And it didn't take me that long ) it has been working like a champ.
I didn't have to do much to it except adjust the pump, and you just have to turn a knob on the front of the pump.
I wish I could be more helpful but this is the only skimmer I have owned so I can't honestly compare it to other skimmers. :-/ ;) ;D
