Don't feel bad for the clown.. If it actually started hosting the anemone you would be one of the few who had that quick of a result. Most clowns you get at the LFS are tank raised and have never even seen an anemone. You would be amazed at the amount of people on here that have clowns and anemone and the clowns host other things like zoas, mushrooms etc..

Packleader is just trying to save you money and heart ache as it would slowly shrink and deteriorate and reek havoc on your tank. The LFS you got it from should at least give you store credit for it.

the clown will live with or without an anemone, but, the anemone probably won't with or without the clown with your lights and being it's a young tank.

I'd take it back and get something else. You might also be taking the puffer back too when it eats your clean up crew. they LOVE shrimp & snails!

SP5689.. If your params are good it is not going to just up and die tonight. You have plenty of time to get it back to the store. Call them tomorrow and ask them if they will take it back for credit. We all understand that it ate and looks good but you are dealing with people who have had tanks for 10 of years and we all made our mistakes in the beginning which we are just trying to save you from. Believe me I did the same thing when I started out and as we are telling you it will eventually die.

If they will not take it back maybe you might need to check with other LFS that may not give you full price but would give you some store credit.

If the place you got it from is not willing to help you out then they are not worth doing business with. Really they should not have sold it to you in the first place if they knew how old your tank was.

I have used gallon ziplock bags but usually keep a couple bags I get when buying fish or corals.

well, i did return the anemone last week with no problems. i picked up a maroon clown and a blonde naso tang and so far they are doing great. i also picked up antoher 10lb lr and placed it in the corner and the naso loves swimming around it. great to see the entire tank doing well. thanks for your help everyone

    you're pretty overstocked.

4 damsels is a lot of damsel in a 55. The maroon clown probably won't get a long well with your original clown.

tank is too small for the naso... especially with the amount of fish you have

Adding live rock after you cycle may cause another mini-cycle - as will adding more fish... kind of a double whammy right there.
