Some of you might remember that a couple months ago I posted a thread about how I wanted to tear down my 90 gallon because it was such a mess. You guys really supported me and gave me motivation to not tear down my tank.

    So here's an update!

I had a guy come out and start getting this tank back into shape. He cleaned all the glass, equipment, etc. Then he removed everything from the tank, got a lot of the detritus off the sand, and he scrubbed ALL the rocks. Some pieces he couldn't save, but he said my tank had WAY too much rock to start with and having less rock will really help to keep things in better shape. Plus now I have more sand bed space - I love it!

The tank already looks soooo much better!!!! It was overrun with bubble algae and cyano and now it looks clean. The sand is still a bit dirty, but he's coming back next week to do another water change and clean more of the sand.

He was here for 4 hours!! He was really great. Since the tank will be a process, he's coming over every week (or other week) until it looks beautiful again. And then he's going to come monthly to do water changes and keep it up.

I'm feeling so much better about things!!!!!

I can't wait to start buying coral again :D

Sometimes it's the best that let the professional do the work :) I'd ask bunch of questions when he comes over next time, take notes and whatnot.
    Anyways, good move and congrats!

Yep! He works for a local fish store here that does maintenance for businesses, homes, etc. He's seen some amazing tanks! He had some good stories to tell. :)

Yes! Just thinking about doing it all was so overwhelming that I couldn't get started. And I have his phone number, so he said I can call him any time if I have questions, etc.

Now I'm just waiting on my new protein skimmer to get here!!

Glad to hear that things are better. Why did he feel that you had too much rock? Did he think it was restricting your flow?

Yes, not allowing water to flow well, not enough sand space...too much sand was covered up so it was allowing so much crud to settle...nutrient factory!

And it looks soooo much better with less rock in there.
