You could use a coupling as mentioned but you would have to do it all over again next time. What I would recommend is go to Lowe's and get a union. It's a compression fit that you can take off when needed. You'll still have to cut the PVC but at least it will be re usable. Not to mention you can work on it if needed. Just leave enough space for the union to be screwed on.... maybe 4 to 6 inches before the next glued on piece. This isn't exactly what I was talking about but would work fine...

I'm using hose that goes over the top of my pvc out of the tank's overflows the the rest of my plumbing and hose on the overflow to connect it to the pvc also, I have to move my stuff atleast once a year so it's nice to be able to take it all down in 1 peice and then just put it back together with clamps

If you don't have room under the tank for a saw, or just don't want to use one, there is a PVC cutter that I have used for up to 2" pvc. This link indicates that this one is good for 1 5/16 od... I could not find a link for the one I bought from a plumbing supply house.

Eh.. try the wrenches but I've hacked so many of those damn things to pieces after failed attempts to separate them. If that's going to be avoided, its before you set it up all permanent-style. :-/
