i am running spectrapure dual reactor powered by cobalt maxijet 1200. brx rox carbon in one chamber and gfo in the second.

no matter how little gfo i place, i can't get it to tumble. it just clums at the bottom into a single blob.

    any suggestions?

perhaps i dont have enough flow through the reactor. even with carbon chamber shut off, it still does not tumble gfo.

is there another pump i can use that has similar tubing connection as maxijet 1200 but has higher gph/heat rating.

i am running about 2 feet of head.

    thanks.

Gfo should be in first reactor. That's how I set mine up worked fine.

hmmm, spectrapure has diff design than most dual reactors. it splits at inlet and goes to each reactor. there are control valves for each reactor. i have gfo in one clearly labeled gfo. perhaps its misslabeled... hmmm

Is the reactor chamber plumbed so it has bottom up flow to reduce the clumping by lifting or fluidizing the media? If it has downward flow it will not lift the media.

It's Spectrapure dual reactor. One chamber is labeled GFO. I assume they plumbed it right at the factory. How can I check?

Place an empty cartridge in the canister and turn the flow on. See if the water drips down from the center of the cartridge or if it goes out around the sides and up the middle.

Thank you. I'll check. If its wrong, do I just reverse the hoses? Maybe better to turn the reactor head around somehow.

Should carbon work in opposite direction? Drip down from middle?

    Thank you again.

That was exactly it. My unit was either assembled wrong, or sticker was placed incorrectly. The chamber labeled GFO was flowing down from the middle, and carbon flowing up throug bottom.

I've simply put gfo on carbon side and carbon on gfo, and gfo is tumbling great now.

    Thank you!
