Hi I saw that you stated you can put a Fish in for the cycling? My tank has been running since Saturday, 3 days now. would ti be to late to stick a Damsel in there? I will be getting my test kit tomorrow to look at levels. I have a Bio-cube 29 gal first tank..

    Thanks

Cycling with fish is old school. Why buy a fish, a fish you might very well remove post cycle, expose that fish to ammonia and nitrite if you can do the same thing with a tiny piece of raw shrimp, fish food, ammonia.....You can add DR.Tims one and only, microbacter7...there a much better ways to cycle a tank than using fish. Hope that helps.

Helps very much! How big of a piece of shrimp. Size of a dime, penny, etc?

Penny is fine, or a tad larger. Put it in the tank, test again at 48 hours and then watch the ammonia level fall off, nitrite spike and finally no detectable ammonia or nitrites, just some nitrates. Sometimes the spike of ammonia and nitrites is easy to miss.

definitely don't cycle with a damsel! Not just because of the unnecessary pain and suffering for the fish but damsels can get quite aggressive and territorial and then you'll wish you never added it.
