So I have a 24G aqua pod for about six months I think everything is going fairly good. But have an idea.

For one I have a glass top on it. And a sunpod 150 14k mh with a strip of 9 3watt Cree RB leds from rapid led. So I got light going.

But I want to do two things. For one take out glass top and leave it open. To me looks way better love the shimmer on walls floor tank everything I also think it keep everything cooler temp wise. I just don't want my fish too jump. I only have two and getting a new one tomorrow for a while now. Going to be one Picasso and one photon and a mandarin goby. Will keep it that way for a lil while after two years finally broke out of the Biy every fish stage but the question is will they jump? How often do clowns jump or mandarins?

Second want to grow mangrove out of my display. Getting a starting two in the morning they have roots already. Can they be underwater and grow up or does some of it need to be out of water? Will the lights kill it or make it grow witch I would be happy with?

not to be insulting but you are aware of the difficulties/cost in keeping a mandarin right? Especially in such a small tank???

as for jumping... you can make a simple net top to help prevent that... maybe some pvc painted black for aesthetics and some black net type material stretched over that...

Sounds a bit bulky not working with a lot of space.

I guess the question is there a lot of tanks that's open top Rimless for example most beautiful ever lol do fish such as clowns and mandarins jump?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Without a screen or lid you will eventually loose fish, it's just a matter of time.
I do not like the glass covers either, look at the DIY screen threads under the " I made this" section.
Mangroves will be difficult in that set-up. They need to have some distance from the MH, they love the intense light but not that close.
    Congrats on the new clown.
