Turbo vortex 100/150 protein skimmer?

This skimmer came with a fuge setup i bought, i was just wondering if anyone knows about it, or if its crap. my tank is only 2 weeks old so theres not much to skim. i have jusn never heard of it before. thanks for the help im still new here.;D

Looks pretty old school... I can't figure out how you would adjust the water line either.. looks like that was determined by the bend in the tube. Regardless, if it skims, it skims. If it is finicky and you don't get a lot of dark coffee out of it, it may be crap.

 

I had that Skimmer B4 now mine had a turn style Valve to adjust water in the tube ....i used it in a 70gal.. and well stated above.."it was crap"... then went and spent the good money and purchased a ASM G3 and in 30 min blew that one out the door with skimmate...

There is a gate that slides up and down on the return to adjust the flow. im not using the tube b/c i have it in my sump with the power head connected directly to it. i think the tube is used to hang it off the back. im getting good foam up the tube but it is clean. i am asuming that is because my tank has just been set up? thanks for the help.

 

How long has your tank been set up..?? If your tank is young enough you more than likely get lil or no skimate..
If i remember corectly there is a mod for it to help you out later.. Just a idea...
