Tunze or Hydor?

Which powerhead will be better for a 36 bowfront? Should I get 1 or 2?

 

Id probably go with hydor over tunze, just for looks. I dont care for the looks of the tunze, but the tunze are good pumps. for that tank i would start off with 2 of the koralia evo 550's maybe even the 750's depending on what your trying to keep.

 

Go with sicce voyager pumps instead. A bit more expensive the the koralias but light years better and far cheaper then the tunze. Check them out.

 

I know you're getting conflicting reviews but I've owned the Tunze, Koralias and the Voyagers. I think the Sicces are going to take up alot more room than you might like in such a small tank.
Koralias: great pumps, used them in my own tank. However, I've found the Tunzes are to be quieter and the koralias have a bit larger footprint.
Tunze Nanostreams: I think they look a little bit less intrusive thank Koralias in my tank at least. They are also waaay easier to clean and don't clog up as quickly because the grates are spread out more. Above all though, the flow pattern coming out of the Tunze bllows the other two out of the water. I put one 6045 in my 36x24x24 and the flow went top to bottom and all the way across the tank. The koralias have more of a stream instead of a wide turbulent flow.

So IME you can't go wrong with a Nanostream 6025

 

I have all 3 currently. I think the tunze look the best, but are my least favorite, I would never, ever buy tunze pumps again... They have fairly narrow flow pattern and the anti vibration system falls apart if you sneeze wrong. The Korallis are okay, not super reliable, but inexpensive and have a wider flow patter, but are bigger. The Sicces are bigger still, but quieter, especially if used on a wave timer and have been the most reliable of the three so far. However, they do not have a suction cup, just magnets. The issue there seems to be that some people complain that they come off the glass to easily. I haven't had this issue, the magnets are incredibly powerful, but perhaps if you have glass? (Also, I am not at my tank at the moment, but I don't think the tunze have suction cups either IIRC).

Vortexes have been them most reliable, lowest profile, functional pumps I've owned. Both the mp10 and 40 are just awesome compared to everything else...

 

Tunze and hydor are not in the same league is like comparing a BMW with a toyota, both are powerheads but Tunze is high end product and is in the same page as vortech.

If you're talking about non controllable tunze then go with koralia, but if you want a controllable pump go with the tunze.

 

Which 1 puts out a wider flow?

 

I just looked at the vortech mp10. Whats the difference between the regular and wireless? And will 1 be enough?

 

Haven't read any info on the koralia wide flow, but tunze have interchangeable front cover that can make then wide or narrow depends on what you want.
