It is summertime and the heat is on. I found my tank hitting 84F by the time my lights went out and I found this high of a temp to be unacceptable. I wanted a fan that was quiet, fit on the rim of a 75 gallon tank, was sleek looking, and didn't cont me a fortune to purchase and run.

I found a few different fans, but only one would fit on the rim of my tank. The tunze Aquawind. Reviewers said the fan was quiet, would fit my tank, and worked well. However, the price tag was $80.23. This was a lot more than what I was looking to spend. After 4 more days of seeing my tank temp going from 78 to 84 I decided to bite the bullet and order it. It arrived today.

The fan system is very sleek and has blue LEDs (not a huge fan of this but I don't notice them). The fan clips onto the rim of your tank. The fans pull air into slots and is then pushed across the surface of the water. The means there is nothing tall sitting on your tank.

The clip did not fit the lip of my tank. However, I cut a few millimeters off of the rim and it fit nicely. The tamp of my tank was already at 79.5F before the lights even came on. I plugged the fan in and went off to work. I did notice that the fan did not push a lot of air. I was worried that the movement would not be enough to cool my tank.

It was 94F today, the hottest day yet this summer. I got home expecting my tank temp to by above 84F. To my surprise my tank was at 79F. This little fan system pushed enough air to keep my tank only 1F above its usual temp. I was thrilled that I was wrong about the fans.

This system is the same as the Spire Ocean Breeze used to cool laptops, but I could not find any due to them being discontinued.

If you are looking for a good looking, quiet, and price is not a factor, I highly recommend this fan.

I purchased this fan this past winter and have not had to use it yet. So, I'm glad to hear the good review. What type of lighting do you have? And where did you place the fan on your tank?

I am using a 6 bulb tek light that is about 5" above the water. I put it on the side of the tank to blow completely across the surface of the water.

Got a link to this fan? I'd love to see it.

It is not on a hinge. It is designed to sit flat on the edge of your aquarium and push the air across the surface. The holes in the photo are where the air comes out of the system.

I figure we spent how much money on a tank and want it to look nice why should we ruin that look with a cheap fan. If I didn't have an open top and you couldn't see the fan I would go with the cheap walmart fan.
