I have been running my Tunze 9002 for well over a month (since the beginning of January 2013). After having to mess around with getting it to fit in my sump, (I have a biocube oceanic 29) I then had to listen to an awful, load noise for 2 weeks that my husband complained about numerous times during those days. Finally mediabaskets.com had me take it apart for the 4th time, and clean the air hose out. This stopped the noise, and I waited and waited and waited for foam. Nothing. No air bubbles, nada. So, I contacted Tunze and they told me to take it apart again and check the air hose which I did. It is connected and not kinked.
Tunze told me to: "Make sure the water line is about 1/4" below the marked line and start with the air screw closed when you plug it in and then open it 3 turns, after that adjust based on what collects in the cup, open 1/4 turn per day if the skimmate is dark or none and close 1/4 turn per day if the skimmate is clear or watery, the goal is tea colored and typically you will get this with the screw open 2.5-4 full turns." Well, I have the water at the correct level and started and opened the screw as directed . . . no air bubbles.

Please, does anyone have any other advice? I am thoroughly disgusted and at my wit's end. Not even sure mediabaskets will take it back at this point in time . . .

hmmm sucks to hear, i had a the same issue when i got my reefpack i too called them and they suggested the same thing. however, bingo they were right. the air tube had disconnected from the pump during transport. every time you took it apart did you clean it? this might reset the "breaking in period", are any bubbles produced at all (take the collection cup off and look down the unit)? how and what exactly did you do to "tweak" it to make it fit in your sump? hope others can help further. i run mine with full open valve but i haven't cleaned it in a good year and half

Thanks Swisswiss! But, you will never guess what I discovered? After searching some other threads about this, found/realized that I had the pump installed backwards! It is crazy and so against common sense how that pump goes back in. Why ever would they put the hole for the power cord on the opposite end? They really need to include a GOOD diagram with the product for all us "dummies". I mean, it just looks like the tube from the pump should go up into the hole that leads directly to the collection cup hole, not under the small "shelve/hole" area! Egads! I've done nothing but suffer through 2 weeks of extremely loud noise, then no bubbles for a month, to be able to have such a sweet and easy fix!

I look forward to many cups of "collection".

Thanks for taking the time to look at this post and reply.
