I was Completely referring to the color of the silicone and nothing ELSE. I am Innocent. and yes, you gotta pull that tape off pretty quickly or the silicone will stretch.

My tank had the clear. you can tell a slight difference between the side that was completely replaced and the other end, but barely. The black silicone seems to frame the tank well and if used with a black BG, its AWESOME. like I said, I kinda wish I had redone the 180 I have now...

As Reefsparky already pointed out, the adhesive between the glass panels is what's actually holding the aquarium together. He was just wanting to reseal the inside seam in the corner of his tank. Any aquarium safe silicone should do that job. Now, if he were replacing a glass panel, I agree with you and suggest he use something stronger. But just redoing an inside seam (which is just providing a watertight bond but not actually holding the tank together), I think it's just fine. Think of the inside silicone as an o-ring, it's just supplemental insurance against a leak.

LOL! I am absolutely sure that you were, it was just that we were watching a Video of here filmed in Vegas on Saturday and she said that about 50 times.

I am in the process of doing a 45 extra tall that some Idiot tried to drill not knowing that the entire tank was tempered. I am really glad I saw this because I completely agree that the black is the only way to go and i am going to order some today.

    :laugh3:lol

Thank you all, for the tips & great advice.

No, I am not redoing the glass. There are no problems there; the glass panels are cut fine.

I am just trying to recreate the water tight seal. O saw that the tank had already been resealed, previously, but was not done correctly(silicone going every which-way.. haha).

I like the black...it looks very 'sleek. But I also like the whitish-clear. It looks seamless & I guess it looks more like one piece, rather than having that "framed-in look".

hey, totally up to you on the color! but you raised a concern. was the glass ever seperated on the last seal job? if it was and you are leaking, I would stop right there and consider complete disassembly to make sure the entire job is done right. you can put roses on a cow poop all day long, but at the end of the week, its still cow poop!

now, if they werent seperated and you have some minor leaks, then by all means cut all the silicone out you can and redo everything you can get your razor to except between the panes.

    lol. I like the metaphor.

I do not think it was disassembled in the last reseal. But to be sure...I know the previous owner, personally & will give him a call to ask.
