Did you do the silicone work yourself? (just asking because of recent silicone travesty thread.....)

Yes I did and I also searched around here as for what silicone was safe to use and I used ge silicone II which was 100% silicone 2. I also let it dry for almost a week before hooking it all up.

I also made sure not to get the one with mold and mildew protection

    your welcome Jturnbul

just giving the guys the full history - they may not be linked

stray voltage from the new sump/ new pump may be the issue
low oxygen from the changeover , removing skimmer and adding new fish may be the problem

whatever the problem was , it bothered me that we could not fix it

so as others are now on this thread, some fresh eyes and fresh perspectives will help both of us

Say it was a stray voltage issue how could I could about testing for it, just a normal circuit tester? And how could the problem be solved? It is grounded.

I just can't figure why the water is cloudy. I do use a alkalinity buffer but I always use the same amount of 1 drop per gallon and It never made my water cloudy for more then a half an hour.

So I found out that the silicone I used says on the back not for aquariums even tho on the front it says 100% silicone so I'm guessing things don't work on a 100% scale anymore.

So now that I know this do what can I do or is my only option to start all over again?

If possible I would really rather not have to drain it and start all over again.

I just removed my canister filter. Now all I have is a skimmer and LR. Hopefully I don't run into issues as well. Good luck and I hope you find the culprit.

    Edit:
I'm still going with the silicone.

Best bet would definitely be to drain and reseal the sump. You have to get that silicone out of there.

    I'm sorry :(
