    Welcome!

I would definitely go with a longer length. I have a 120 gallon (4x2x2) and would much rather have a 6ft 125, especially since most fish prefer to swim side to side and not top to bottom!

Hello and welcome to the 3reef fam. Planning will play a key role on what type of tank you want. Mainly because if you wank tangs then its preferred that you will need a 6 ft tank. If you won't keep tangs then you will need a shorter tank. But with that 30" in tank you are looking at keeping atleast 250W - 400W Metal Halide lights to meet the requirements for corals. But that's just some ideas for you to think about.

Personally, I like the shallow tank. Is the 110g 48" long X 30" wide or is it 30" tall and 18" wide?

I would go with whichever of the tanks is shallower, but that's just me. As Reefbruh said, tangs need swimming room, meaning height + length.
