I have a Niger & Humu trigger & occasionally they put up there top dorsal spine. Normally they do it when they are just swimming around a lone & not around other fish.

Is this a sign of aggression?

The first dorsal spine is usually used by triggerfish to keep predators from pulling them out of rock caves. Some fish will just stretch occasionally (anecdotal) which is probably what ypurs are doing.

My trigger would do that quite often. I believe it is simply stretching when it does that.
