im sort of confused with the whole dosing thing. can someone clear this up for me?

If you do water changes religously and depend on your salt mix for trace element and other nutrients will you still need to dose?

does this depend on the type of coral? hard vs. soft

    i have never dosed.

I only dose Ca, Mg and alkalinity when necessary. Corals will constantly take up these elements so I found I needed to dose these even with weekly water changes. Another problem was that my salt, reef crystals was low in Mg and Ca so I have switched to Coral life, so I will give that a try. I don't dose more minor trace elements, I rely on the water changes for that.
