    Good Morning All,

I'm in the process of placing sand (Fiji Pink Aragonite) in my 90 gal. Does 80 lbs.(suggested by my LFS) sound like too much sand for a 90 gal.? I have about 103 lbs. of base and live rock in the tank already.

    Thanks,
    john1948

I dont remember how many lbs of sand I placed in my tank( also a 90g ), but my goal was to keep only 1"-2" of a sand bed. If the sand come in 20lb bags, that seems to be right. Just play it by eye and return whatever you dont use.

I have 60 lbs in my 46 gal bow front. It is only about 3 inches. I'm thinking that you are not near too much. Are they 20 lb bags? You could always do a little at a time but i really think you will be alright.

2" in a 48"x18" tank would be about 90 pounds. 80 pounds will give you about 1.8", that is calculated with 90lbs per cubic foot, which is average for sand.

    Thanks everyone,
Sounds like my LFS's suggestion was about right.

    Thanks Again,
