I feel like there is too much flow in my 40 gal breeder, I can't find a good place for my torch coral to sit because everywhere I place him in the tank has too much flow, I have a rio 17 HF return pump with two output two return. I have tried moving them and nothing seems to help.. any suggestions?

Just the Rio. no power heads. I'd say your good for flow. I take it your Rio is wide open?

Star, you know... i'd love to see a FTS of your breeder. If it's 1/2 as pretty as it's owner that'd be a beautiful tank.

I dont really know.. It should be, My torch coral just wont fully open up in the sand, the middle of the tank seems to have less flow than the bottom, He is just kinda getting blown around and won't fully open up. I would love to see him fully open :( I just can't find a good spot for him..

They say 30x turnover in display. Doesnt count skimmer or return pump. I have 1900 in display 2 power heads 1050gph and 850gph in a 65gallon

How long have you had it? Have you kept it in the same spot for a couple of weeks at a time?

I ask because It might need to settle into a new spot.
I've seen torch corals sitting right in front of a Vorteck M40 and be fully extended.

I have had him for about a year, but I just moved him into this tank so thats probably it he just needs to settle.. It seems to be doing OK, just not super happy I will give it some time, and I'll post pics, I had him in the bio cube and he wasn't fully extending either. But he didn't really look unhappy so I didn't worry too much Now he is just poking the tops out but once again it doesn't look sick or dying really..

Might be best to keep an eye on it, while keeping in in one spot for a bit.

you can also see if it will take a piece of shrimp or squid
