toadstool polyip issues

    have a small toadstool hasent extended polyp in about a week was not to conserned atfirst i know they are finiky with extending some times but hair algea has started to grow across top of the head should i remove from tank and clean it or just let it be and hope the animal extends and cleans itself or what

    That is not a good sign. Definitely scrub that off gently and see how he does, is it under medium flow? They usually like a little bit of current but not to strong.

    Sounds like you have some water issues. Have you tested? PH low and/or Nitrates high? Need a partial water change.

    Direct good water flow to it, it will slough off the algae etc, They require pretty good water movement, they especially like back and forth with enough of a blast for lay the polyps down flat for a couple seconds every few minutes

    the hair algea has become a serious problem after tank moved have now bought a ro/di filter for water changes and top off water has not realy helped much though

    i removed and gently cleaned it off it has attached itself to two rocks it seemes to have budded 4 little corals onto one of the rocks the smaller one it was originaly came on should o seporate the rocks and try to get the babies out from under the shade of the larger coral in hopes that they grow they are extending poly
