I agree with you and the info you found on wetweb about curing live rock but you were wanting to know about cycling a tank which I assume you are using already cured rock.  Wetwebmedia is a great resource for info and can be overwhelming trying to sift through all their info.  I utilize them for answering direct questions by email.  I find them invaluable and have never been lead in the wrong direction by the wetweb crew.  And yes we all have our differing opinions and experiences with marine fish and it just goes to show there is more than one way to skin a cat in most cases.
Thirty years ago when I was 14 I had my first saltwater tank, a 55gal fish only with an under gravel filter and an aquaking power filter (and no skimmer).  I did 20g water changes once a yr with ocean water from a nearby bay and never lost a fish for the first five years.  Now today people would say i'm nuts to have a set up like that.

My gf hates you guys!!! since starting this hobby I have become fully engulfed into reading every book I can get my hands on and reading every website that has something to do w/ this hobby. She wishes there was one person that could give me all the answers so I wouldn't have to do all this research every night. I for one enjoy every min of it. I'm someone who loves doing things on their own. I've had a couple friends refer me to services that would take care of everything for me (for a nominal fee), but where is the fun in that? I for one want to learn things and not have someone do it for me, hence my late nights on these boards.

Info overload? Yes, but it's ok. I will continue to read, gather info and hopefully make few mistakes, but if I do, I do. Some things you have to learn on your own and with experience I too will develop my own methodology to reefkeeping (maybe even be a moderator myself someday...Matt listening??). As anxious as I am about getting fish into the tank, I will always follow the advice of taking things slow, and then go slower.

Omard & Black_Raven thanks for the insight and info, here's some K for your advice and your contribution to this board.

I'll keep you posted as to my progress.

:) Your success in saltwater fish keeping is guaranteed as long as you keep to your word and go slow.
