Can there ever be to much flow, I have 2 k2's and 1 k4 in my 65g 36'' long tank. I added my clowns, they are doing well but looks like there huddling in the corner. I turned off my k4 to see if they would eat and they did but what do you guys think, do I have to much flow?

if you just added the clowns then they are probably just kinda freaked out and hiding in the corner..when i had clowns they would always go play in the current! just give them some time

    good question.

my two perc clowns spend 80% of the time at the end of the tank that has the least flow. i have always wondered if there was too much flow for them or if they had just marked that area as theirs. I have one 1200, one 600 and a 950 return pump.

i have had one for over a year and the other for 6 months.

one of mine likes to surf on the current of my K clone ( 3000 litres per hour)

I did a 30 second video, but we cant use You tube from here ( not sure why)
the Video is a MVI but there is no upload facility for it

so I cant share my 30 seconds of my Clown , surfing

seriously, when they get adjusted to it, there seem to really enjoy it

china blocks YouTube - Google Search

China has been blocking access to YouTube for years. There's always a trade off for $5 Koralia clones :p

Back on topic... I was worried about my Chromis for a while after I got my MP40w, they would dart into the stream and get within a hairs width of swimming INTO the fan blade. But for all I've heard about how stupid fish are and have no attention span.... maybe gold fish, but marine fish are smart. They know what too close is, and I am starting to think they get a kick out of messing with me. Now after I feed the tank when the controller kicks back in fromf eed mose I amp it up to 100% power (from about 60%) for a few minutes to kick up detritus, and they love it.

The clowns I have host a small cave in the far end of the tank from the PH, but it's not a low flow area, the return from the sump points directly into it. All I can figure is it was a dark place when they were introduced and they took to it. The flow is also much more stable, the MP40w is on crested reef mode, so things get kinda crazy for a few minutes at a time.

They also like to swim in the cirrent from the PH, they just don't hang in it all day like the chromis do. It amazes me to think about how much energy such a small fish must be burning to keep up in that stream (~2000gph) all day.

ya there kinda goofy, there hosting my middle PH. It was funny I was watching tv and I saw them start to venture to the front of the tank. In my stupid excitment I ran up to the glass and they darted back to there PH. On a plus note there eating the hell out of my garlic flakes which im happy about I just wish they would explore my tank.
