Hi guys. I am wondering how much flow is to much? I just added a koralia eve powerhead that does about 1000 gph to my 55. I have a job that does 400 gph and a fluvak that does 270. I am about to add a pump from my sump that will do around 450. Am o to high? If so, what should I change?

All of those combined is about 39x tank turnover. Not even remotely close to too much. I keep Zoas and GSP in around 53x turnover. The ocean has the equivalent flow of waaaaaay more than 100x turnover.

thank you for the response. My fish don't seem to appreciate it too much. Are they just getting used to it?

I think they will learn to love it. Just takes them a little while to "stretch the legs out".

I've seen tanks with 100x turnover, and as mentioned earlier, the fish loved swimming in the current.

Any time you make a sudden change like that, the fish will retreat for a short period until they get used to it.

+1 to this - Have a 30 gallon cube with 100X turnover and all inhabitants adjusted rapidly to the increased flow upon transition from a stock 14BC.
