Are you using the existing LR??If using the existing lr you should be O.K. but I would definitely get some Microbacter 7. As long as you have enough flow and biofilm they could stay in the cans forever.;)

I knew I could count on you Vinny! :) I'm sure I could use the existing LR in the cans as biofilm. When you say flow to you mean water movement such as what several air stones would create?

Just got back from the LFS and ordered my new tank setup, 180 gallons actual :D Will take a month or so to complete so now I need to research a skimmer and a DC sump pump for it. Any recommendations from the PRO? :)

Yes airstones are fine.Congratulations on the new setup. Are you going to use an external or submersible pump?
If money is no object then I would get a Vertex.
Reef Octopus also make good solid skimmers.ime
You really want an energy efficient pump as these run 24/7.

The external or submersible are still a tossup until I get the final specs on the sump. I'm leaving room on the backside for the Aquafuge 2 to mount for better control of the water flow through it and I have a small chiller that will sit to the side. This whole setup will fit in a closet 58" wide and I'll have no access to the backside  so everything must fit under (HMm Australian setup :)) The space is 55" x 23" and 32" high. It probably will end up being in the sump o_O What is that daily turnover rate for the water formula? or is more better as long as the refugium is separate? Money is always an object but quality pays in the long run I have found. I will check those out, thanks :)

    Buy quality or buy 2.lol
Also in my tiny mind I feel the less things to worry about the more time you have to enjoy and relax.:)
You kinda want to match the flow of your skimmer if possible.IME in a closed system as long as your equipment is pulling in enough water to work who cares how fast(within reason of courselol)its flowing through there. It will be back eventually.o_O

Latest update; Got the Jecod DCT-8000 pump. Specs look good, low wattage good volume. :) Also picked up a Reef Octopus 8" OCT-EXT200 in sump skimmer :) UPS just delivered 220 lbs of Aragonite sand, $.69 a lb and delivery charge $5.65 for all  Getting very tough to buy anything local around here. Only one worthwhile LFS within 100 miles  Got 2 Liters of MicroBacter-7 (thanks for the tip Vinny) FedEx to bring 120 lbs of Instant Ocean early next week. Going to Lowes this weekend to pickup PVC valves, fittings, etc. I've been working on plans for "KISS" plumbing:p Latest on the tank and stand is 2 weeks to completion :) Then I get to work on setup.
