    Hey Everyone,

My wife has just informed me that she wants a new camera. I tried to search a bit but can not find a post on cameras. I thought there was one or at least one that said what you should look for in a camera to get some cool shots of the tank. Any help would be great. I just figured if we're getting one I might as well make Luna happy with some cool pics!!!

    ;D

I'd say under $400 She wants one that she can throw in her purse for taking to bday parties and snapping shots of the Kids.. We had a Cannon powershot that she lked but my son droped it and now the zoom and auto focus does not work..

I love my Sony DSC-W50, it's small and takes nice closeups. It's an older model now but you can find a good Sony in that price range.

I think I know what post you're talking about, but the thing that is referred to in that post won't work on a point and shoot camera like your wife wants that will fit in her purse. If you want a real good reef taking cam you'll have to get a SLR or settle with something like what I have which isn't too bad.

Here are some of my pics I've taken with the sony...

I absolutely LOVE my Nikon D70S. Amazing camera. It took a while to find, but I got mine used but like new condition for $350. Find one like that, and you could throw in a macro filter set and tripod and come out around your $400 dollar mark. If you really want great shots, manual, SLR camera's are the way to go.

Before I got my DSLR, I took some mighty fine pictures using the macro function of my Nikon CoolPix.

Yea but he wants one the wife can just put in her purse and carry around... Can't do that too easily with an SLR.

(I want a DSLR SO BAD!)

Why not get the SLR. And the camera for the wife. And up the budget just a hair. You could get a cheap olympus or somthing that would get the job done for her easy! Best of both worlds,
