    OK, I get it now.

My sump is actually 11 gallons (metric). I think it will be about half full, with skimmer and return pump in it. If the tide pool tank is at low tide, then I should be able to have all the extra water at low tide go into the 11g sump without a problem..correct?

Do they make that sprinkler valve in a 3/4" ?

It should cost me about $26 if I don't buy the stunner strip lights. lol. I'll do that after I finish my 29.

Plus the cost of wood to build the stand, of course.

yes, they do make a 3/4" as well and sell it at HD. I think even Lowes has them.

Yes your sump will need to be able to handle whatever drains from the point of High tide to Low tide with atleast a few spare inches to account for extra top off water.

I think this is a really cool idea, but like the others I feel that this could be stinky and also be a cause of nitrates due to the dying organisms on the tank walls when it is at low tide. just my honest opinion here my friend

Honest opinions is what I want. So thank you.

I just checked and it will be more than I thought. $3.40 for the tank. $10(ish) for the sprinkler valve. $27 for 1.5" drill bit and loc-line return and 3/4" bulkhead. $9.32 for 2 more 3/4" bulkheads. I already have the PVC and fittings.
