Wow. I really like your idea SushiGirl - even if you just use water from your sump. ;) That would be a cool affect and would be interesting to see the fish react to it as well. Somebody get on it!

On topic - I'd love to have this setup - gotta pay to play though. For now I'll just open the window shade. :)

I think you'd get a lot more fish reaction if it actually rained your fresh top off water...after all, that's what happens naturally in the wild and if that's what you're trying to simulate for the benefit of the fish in your tank it makes sense...right?

Yeah true - just much harder to pull off unless you make your ATO a rain-maker. :)

Well heck, if the guy can build that thing, surely he can make a simple top off rain system LOL.

Well, I know some other controllers can use pumps and crank them up for a storm mode. I imagine he'd be able to do this, too, and that way you do get the benefit of having a time when crud gets stirred up a bit.

I would think the rain would be pretty easy. Holes in a hose over the tank, hooked up to the top off system. Of course, it would have to be removable so it didn't rain every day LOL.

that or it would have to be hooked up to a switch to alternate it from going to the sump to the hose over the tank when the thunderstorm came on.

Man i wish money grew on trees! I think that the rain could just be a valve on the return line to make it go into a hose that runs over the top of the tank! Who cares if it benifits the fish or not. You did not spend $5,000 on a reef tank so the fish could have fun and play wth corals all day. It is for your enjoyment, not the fish! Would be awesome though!! I only have metal halides so it would not work! Great invention!!!
