Ya know.....this is coincidental. I saw a bunch of these at the Rainforest Cafe (new thread and pics coming later) and wondered what they were. BIG fish they are. The tank I saw them in was 3500g total. Two cylinders connected by a third cylinder at the top. Really neat set up.

Let me tell ya, these fish would outgrow a 300g tank.

a lot of fish will continue to keep growing past what they are suppost to if the tank is big enough
im sure they would stay smaller in a 300 gallon

(i want to see those pics!)

I would say they were pushing two feet. The ad says 1'8", but these seemed bigger than that. Might have been the tank's curvature distorting the size of the fish. They were good sized though.

I was researching these a while back... decided it may grow too fast and eat the inverts.
I wonder how fast they grow. Definitely a cool looking fish. My Hippo tang can get up to 12" according to Dr. FS. .. but come on have you ever seen one that big? I bet they can get bigger than that in the ocean but won't come close in an aquarium. My engineer goby was 2 inches 6 months ago now he's probably pushing 8-9 inches. So different fish grow at different rates. I had an pink square anthias that was 6-7 inches and they're not suppose to get that big.

actually that is correct in freshwater but saltwater fish will typically grow to the size that they would grow regardless of tank size, so all that would happen is that the fish would get stressed out

My LFS had some in. They are very cool fish, neat to watch swim under the bright lights...shimmers! I like to look at them but would not have one for the costs

Sounds like the same setup in Chicago. I love the downtown Rainforest Cafe there, big frog on top of the building. Good food, cool tank!

I wouldn't buy one for $10. Very drab and boring color, reminds me of a fresh water fish.
