The PC actinics that I have on my system are Odyssea 460mn but they give a sort of greenish tint to the water and coral color intensity decreased to a brownish appearance. So I was interested in using Compact Fluorescent Reef Aquarium Lighting: Current Compact Fluorescent Straight Pin Bulbs these lights to replace the current ones that I have on now. the 420/460mn bulbs.
I would like to know if the 420's would help to boost the color also if the 420's would promote any excessive and unwanted algae growth?
Does anyone here use 420nm bulbs on their tanks?
    Thanks

Use their 460nm to keep your PAR up the 420 has minimal PAR. Your colors will look fine with the 460 also. When the color starts looking bad it is time to replace the bulbs. UVL is another option if you can get them shipped to you. Reefgeeks has the UVL PC bulbs.

Okay so I think I'll go with the UVL.
However, I'm a bit confused with one thing, which one is the better option, the 2-in-1 (Super Actinic/75-25) Powercompact or the Super Actinic Powercompact?
Which one will give me the most blue apperance?
Night-Rida, I see you have the 454nm but could you post a direct link of that particular bulb for me plz?
    Thanks

reefgeek has them, just have to call them to order.. (not listed on website for some reason) 454 is a blue bulb. super actinic is more purple/less par. I'd stay away from combo bulbs unless you dont have a 4 bulb fixture. I run 75-25 x2 and 454 x2 in my pc fixture. uvl have internal reflectors too which help.

Yep I've read about the internal reflectors which is a major +. I do have a 4 bulb fixture. 2x65W and 2x96W.
I will go ahead and order sometime soon. I'm also interested in changing out the MHs for Phoenix 14Ks. To hopefully get rid of the greenish appearance.

if your using your mh for main lighting, then I do 2 454 pcs and 2 super actinics with 14k phoenix.. that would looks great.

if you want more blue then get the 454 in 96w and the actinics in 65w.

Great, that's the conformation that I needed. I may not change the ballasts right now but soon enough.
I'll get the 454 in the 96W and the super actinics in 65W with the Phoenix 14K. hopefully I'll get the color I want then.
One big + that I've noticed with the mixture of the stock odyssea bulbs that I have on is major coral growth since I put them up.Gorgonians and zoas in particular.
