    I am not reading through this, but if you test it in a "clean" glass of water, residue left in the glass after washing or just sitting in a cupboard will accumulate on the glass and become dissolved when wet. I only say this because you are using a handheld as opposed to a inline. hope this helps.

    Nope, I am using a dual inline TDS meter: HM Digital In-line Dual TDS Meter

    And I determined the problem is that the dealer I bought the RO unit from left out the RO membrane .... go figure ... and I am just now finding out because it was time to change the filters.

    Ahh, yes. I read through it. Thats ridiculous that they left the membrane out. its the most expensive part. I would call and raise some heck..

    Just called support at the dealer.
    They said they would ship a RO membrane to me A.S.A.P.

    Before installing it once you receive it from the dealer google the specs for it. If its anything less than 98% rejection rated I would consider following AZDesertRat's advice and consider the Spectrapure replacement.

    Dont feel to bad LARZ. I did the same thing with my RO unit when I got it. Went change out the filter and well.... It was empty too
