I posted last week about slime/algae in my top off container.
I thought, it must be due to the filters in my RO/DI unit being almost 1 year old - Right?

So I ordered new filters from the manufacturer - 1 micron sediment ; 1 micron carbon filter ; 1 DI filter & 1 inline DI filter.

I also ordered a dual TDS meter.

I installed the filters and the TDS meter (input and output).

Here is where it gets weird - - - The TDS meter reads ~500 IN and 733 OUT.
    HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE!?!?!?!?

The water coming OUT is worse than my tap water .... makes me wonder if this RO system has been doing anything at ALL for the past year.

I have traced the water path through the system.
In to the Sediment filter-->Carbon filter-->Inline DI filter-->Final DI filter.

I am at a total loss and need some input before I chuck the whole thing.

I am re-thinking my RO/DI purchase ....Standard RO/DI System from Abundant Flow Water Systems: Aquarium Filters

    Anyone have one of these?
Are they just junk or am I doing something wrong?

    HELP!

Have you ever flushed the RO membrane?

Hmmm. Very odd.. What kind of RO system is it? Unless your Membrane is shot, but I have never heard of it being worse unless your DI is bad?

I would guess it's solids stuck in the RO membrane, if it's never been flushed.

I use a hand held tds meter around the house and it needs to be calibrated. Do the inline ones need to be calibrated?

Sediment filter-->Carbon filter-->Inline DI filter-->Final DI filter. Where is the membrane??

Mine is: Sediment filter--> Carbon filter--> Carbon filter--> Membrane--> Inline carbon filter to RO out--> Inline DI filter--> Final DI filter to Storage Tank for tank use.

    Yep I have flushed it.

Installed the new filters last night ... ran about 10 gallons through the system and discarded.
Flushed the system using the "waste/flow restrictor valve" with 10 plus more gallons.

I must have removed the filters checking and double checking everything I can think of.

I would test the TDS meter in & out with RO water and see what it reads. Meter could be all jacked up.
