So im thinking that I want to upgrade from my 75Gallon Seaclear System II to a standard DRILLED 75 Gallon with a sump. Ive had the Seaclear running for about 2 months now and everything is going well, however, I don't like how the filter/sump in the back takes up valuable space in my aquarium and i like the idea of having a real sump! I recently came across a whole 75gallon setup, tank sump, pumps, skimmer, lighting, everything for $200. I think im going to buy it and take the AGA and use it as well as the sump... I like the idea of glass instead of my scratched up Acrylic. I figure I could sell what I don't need to recover costs...

My question is could i break down my tank, saving all water and just move the substrate, rock, and livestock to the new tank in one day without issues?

Should be no problem, how long has your system been running? Oh,just reread your post. You should be okay with the switch, might be good to add a little bacteria to help guard against a minicycle.I used IO birospira when doing my tank setup.I've read that Dr Tims and Microbacter 7 are also good ones to use.

The price is for a used equipemnt?

NOt there's anbhything wrong with that, it's how I started my current system.

If you have a 75 now, no thoughts about going bigger?

I would ditch the old substrate and replace it with new substrate and add a cup of old substrate to jump start the live sand process. The sand will be seeded by your rock and a cup of old substrate. By moving all the substrate you could potentially stir up a lot of nitrates and phosphates.

Unless you are running a shallow sand bed and it is constantly vacuumed.

sands only 2 months old, i think it would be fine to transfer over.
pretty easy switch really, just empty everything into holding containers and put in new tank. make sure to have some premade sw ready because you will need more if your adding a sump.
Looks like a good deal! and that stand is very cool looking, wonder if you have take the casters off to make it look more permanent?

I've had a lot of experience with moving and the only times I've ever had a mini cycle was when I didn't just transfer all of the sand. A lot of people get scared over the gases released, but by the time you take the sand out the water is gone and they only get released into the air as you scoop it out.

I think you will be ok as well, but I would use new sand.

I have the 40 gallon seaclear and I hate it. I would defiantly switch over i hate the filtration, and the Coraline on the acrylic especial the corners drives me insane and you are super limited on what kind of filtration you can fit into the back of the tank. I would make the change early I promise you wont regret it.

If you plan to upgrade to a bigger tank I would keep using what you have and put the money into a larger system
