Yes you read that right, I've been thinking about selling my mp40. It works ok on my 65 but I feel if I had 2 powerheads(one on each end) on a wave maker it would actually work better. I've been looking into the jbj oceanstream kit. 2 1600gph powerheads with a wavemaker. This would equal what my mp40 puts out at max (which its on reef crest so its not all the time max)
Also the thought of not hearing the mp40 would be nice.

Am I crazy or should I throw in the towel?

    Lol not quite yet.
I guess right now I'm on the fence about switching to regular powerheads. Just looking for opinions at this point.

Is your tank in your room? Mine is in living room so noise is not an option for me, but when i had my 20 gal in my room i hated all the noise coming from it. That's why i switched to living room and 75 gal. lol

I would say loose it, and get the jbj system. :p

Of course you would say to loose it lmao
My tanks in my living room but I'm not overly concerned with the noise, just looking at what would be better for my tank.

I started out with normal powerheads and then acquired my first vortech a few years ago. Since then I have bought two more mp40's and an mp10. I would never go back to normal powerheads now... IMO they just dont compare.

edit: I have never checked these prices... but your probably going to have close to $200 in a jbj controller system and power heads... so why not just buy an mp 10 and sync it up with your current mp 40?

    90 bucks.

I don't have the cash to get another mp pump and to tell you the truth I'm past the hype on these. I ran a 90g with hydors and I feel I had better control of flow with that tank then my current tank.
The wave tuning and all that is fun but I got over it pretty quick.

I'm just torn, I don't want to sell and then regret it. But I may sell and be glad I did.

The vortech powerheads seem like iphones and mac's. Lots of fanboys and all other products are inferior...

and actually, I'm gonna buy the Oceanstream 500 kit in a week or two haha
