The temperature debate

    interesting thread. my tank temperatures do stay circa the 78-80 f mark.. i too am an insomniac, so will also confuse the matter. i thought there was a "lower end" of temperature range which was 77/79 f and the higher end was 84 f ??? also i read in a book(aquarium corals by eric borneman)that the average reef temperature (of the ones they tested) was 82 f ........basically as i hope you all know,if the temp is higher (80/84 f )it increases the metabolism of the tank,meaning plusher corals!!!woo hoo thats what we want.....

    personally i think between 78-82 your fine!!!

    there should be a poll that looks something like this:

    I keep my tank temp at:

    1- 74 to 75 with good results
    2- 74 to 75 without results
    3- 75 to 76 with good results
    4- 75 to 76 without results
    etc all the way to 83 (since i've never heard anyone intentionally go higher than 73)
