I've lived here for so long and never been to that aquarium. It is a shame they are tearing it down though. I will take a stroll over there soon. Thanks for the info Matt. I live in the area and didn't even hear about this!

Here is a pic of the building from the outside:

This building was built in 1973 and is an inverted pyramid. I walked along the balcony which is near the top and took in the view. It was a great view. I've never seen a building designed like this. It is one of a kind and about to go away. The concrete supports are said to be failing among other things...

    Thanks for adding more pics.
You know when I was there last month the tall cylinder tank was empty. :p
Looks like the aquarium doesn't like the arrangement with that museum in that link.

I thought it was odd that they were asking for 9000 of the museum's 11000sqft. That sounds more like taking over than anything.

I have this weird feeling I've been there before. How far is it from Clearwater?

It is not far from Clearwater. Probably about 20-30 minutes depending on which way you go. Clearwater also has a little aquarium as well as Tarpon Springs.

Okay I've probably been there then. My grandparents used to live in Clearwater and we would visit every year when I was younger. Looking at the pictures, it just looks so familiar to me!
