The best thing about our DEATHCO is that it went out of business about 2 weeks ago...

Surprising the SW fish dept can stay in business.

They shut it down here locally.

Ignorance and stupidity comes in many forms....and can be found everywhere. :-/

    Congrats on not hurting anybody.

the ones here in orlando are still open with plety of sw.some of them are good but some just suck.i think the employees are taught a week course on how to feed fish and then they call them fish experts.

Geekdiesel Classic!!!! I guess it cant be the Geekanator or you would have to go back!!!!lol

We dont have this store here in East Canada and bye the sounds of it we dont want it!!!
But its funny how whenever this place comes up on this board their is always people who chim in and say "Oh yes I was their the other day!"

These people should be "bye the sounds of things" doing themselves and their tanks a favour and just staying away!!!!

I went there just to browse and kill time, not to buy. I also go to the other LFS here that sells saltwater, but are just the opposite of deathco, extremely healthy fish with a hefty price tag. There is an actual marine biologist that works there. Thats the store I use to work at.

Wow, Our Petco is great. I know both people that work in the saltwater fish section and they both are dedicated to the hobby. They always have healthy fish and the selection is great. I spend alot of time and $$$ there. Sorry to hear you guys would turn against a chain all because of one or two bad employees or managers. As I told my troops back in my military days, Adapt and Overcome!

I dont get any thing at Deathco any more but I do stop in once in a while just to look. About 3-4 mos ago the tanks were full of all kinds of crap and the fish were soooo skinny and just looked awful. When I asked the attendant why the tanks were so bad she said when they had some time they would clean things up and feed the fish. So I just pulled out my cell phone, made sure the flash was on and stated taking pics of the worst tanks. She asked me what I was doing and I told her I was taking pics to post on the internet. I was asked to stop which I did as I told them I already had all the pics I wanted and If I ever saw their tanks look that way again I would be taking more pics. A few days later all the tanks were spotless. Of course they have regressed but I have been back and I do take pics till they tell me to stop. Seems to work short term.

Petco is pretty awful. The one by my house uses gravel and airstones in all of their saltwater tanks. Its pretty sad.
