    The coral appears to be dead, and growing algae. By chance is this a realitivly new piece of liverock?

    The tank itself is relatively new, but a friend of mine gave me pretty much everything in it (including the water), aside from the crabs. He had all of it inside his 75 gal but when he downsized he had a lot to get rid of, which is how i started this fantastic hobby! The pic is a few weeks old, currently, the coral is much brighter, and looks pretty alive to me.

    Oh, and I got a decent sized astrea snail in now, his name is Carl. And there appears to by a live polyp on his shell. Kinda cool lookin'!

    I wish I could see a picture of this, I love seeing things growing on crab or snail shells. It's interesting to me how it ended up there to begin with. I also have to say that I agree with the ID's and welcome to the hobby! :)
